CNC Swiss Turning
About CNC Turning
CNC Turning is a manufacturing process in which bars of material are held in a chuck and rotated while a tool is fed to the piece to remove material to create the desired shape. CNC turning centers have tooling mounted on a turret which is computer-controlled.
MDI is capable of ultra-precision machining extremely complex parts on Citizen 7-axis Swiss turning centers and can hold tolerances of up to +/- .0001”. We routinely perform turning, whirling of threads, micro hole drilling, milling, and slotting. We work with materials such as PEEK, titanium, stainless steel, cobalt chrome, platinum, and other exotic metals.
Today, CNC Swiss turning machines are the leaders in precision medical device manufacturing, and there is no doubt why. Unlike conventional turning machines, whose headstocks are fixed in one position, Swiss turning machines possess a moving headstock. This allows for creating more complex shapes in a shorter time span. Get in touch with MDI today for a quotation for your project or launch!
